Ya know, I dunno what the other Liquid Jesus dudes are going to say about me putting up a video, but I saw this and I had to post it! Shit's rawwwwwww!

Miami Horror - Holidays
Miami Horror - Summersun
Crafting sugary-sweet electro-pop that hinges on a seriously heavy disco vibe, Australian act Miami Horror puts the ants in my proverbial pants, man, and in a dead-on, no holds barred, dance-floor banger kinda way... These pop tracks need to do a switch over from semi-obscure, nerdy music enthusiast's collection to the nearest dance party, and fuckin' all quickly-like, 'cause they'd fit right in 'mongst (and probably even overshadow) the hackneyed, bullshit pop songs that all the douchebags always want to hear on, say, Saturday nights everywhere.

When Deerhunter announced the then-impending release of its fourth full-length, Halcyon Digest, it created quite a stir amongst its adoring fan base who seem to be ever hungry for more and more from this prolific, Atlanta-based quartet. The album itself is a beautiful collection of songs steeped in gorgeous textures and melodies of indie-rock nostalgia, and the project as a whole is just as admirable for its stark, visual prowess (it's probably no secret that we absolutely love that gritty, xeroxed aesthetic), as it is for its diverse musical ingenuity.
Halcyon Digest will be released on September 28th, via 4AD and Deerhunter

Kids of 88 - Ribbons Of Light
Kids of 88 - Just A Little Bit
While Kids of 88 (as well new found faves, The Naked and Famous) may be somewhat confined to their own lil' remote corner of the southern hemisphere for now, it's only a matter of time before the whole world starts paying attention - all serious-like - to these talented New Zealanders and their undeniably catchy, new-wavey synth stylings that make it almost too easy to get down and real dirty to. And who doesn't like to get down and dirty, eh? The sooner the better, at least as far as I'm concerned.

Maximum Balloon - Groove Me (ft. Theophilus London)
Maximum Balloon - Tiger (ft. Aku Orraca-Tetteh)
Look, TV On The Radio guitarist David Andrew Sitek has a delicious lil' musical collab/side project that goes by the name Maximum Balloon and he's brought along some friends (TVOTR members Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone, Theophilus London, Karen O, David Byrne and, gasp, even more...) to join in on the fun. Excited yet? Don't say I didn't warn you... This thing is just as goddamn deliriously catchy as you'd probably expect, and trust me - it's only a matter of time before you're secretly dancin' to it in your parents' spare bedroom when you really should be out looking for a real job instead so you can help them out with the bills.

French Horn Rebellion - This Moment
French Horn Rebellion - Brasilia Girl (Epic Edit)
MAN! The last time these I saw these guys perform live they got into a nose to nose argument with their sound guy, and then band they were touring with, Tigercity, got into a fight with the venue's bartender. Pretty hardcore for a bunch of kids making party vibes! Just like that one time, they're bringing down the house with these dancefloor jams and all indications look like they're gonna keep pushing that club sound and force the return of JNCO jeans.
The Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion will be released on November 9th, via Once Upon A Time Records

LIQUID JESUS - MixTape 01:03
Our main man RIG took on the task of putting together this month's Liquid Jesus MixTape, and to tell you the truth, it represents a good part of what's been showing up on our PLAYLISTS these days - much like any good themed compilation should. So, if you've been following us for a while and haven't noticed yet… we'll be putting together and posting a new mix every month, kind of as an anticipatory run-up to our self-titled monthly drinking-night/party on the third Monday of every month at the Orpheum. (read: THIS Monday) Take a listen and tell us what you think. Full tracklist is available after the jump. Enjoy.

BC - This Is Not A Song
BC - Fusion
Longtime Liquid Jesus friend and co-conspirator BC released the wonderfully sci-fi-tinged, soon-to-be hip-hop classic Time Capsule EP late last year, as the first installment of his intricately apocalyptic-laden concept Time Pieces Trilogy album/manifesto... And we're more than excited about it - just as much now, as we were then. Top-notch production via the ever-lovable (and completely badass) Mudd Buddha takes BC's eloquent/intellectual, rambling stream-of-consciousness rhyming style to new levels, and the end product is a dark, sophisticated lil' slice of hip hop heaven. Just thinking about the impending release of Part Two (whenever that's gonna be...) makes us drool with anticipation.

The Hundred in the Hands - Pigeons
The Hundred in the Hands - Last City
The Hundred in the Hands have managed to make yet another appearance here on Liquid Jesus, and as we've mentioned before (HERE and HERE, respectively), there's a pretty good reason for it. The self-titled The Hundred in the Hands debut full-length is a milestone for this up-and-coming Brooklyn-based art-punk duo - especially after the quite excellent This Desert EP - and if you've been paying any attention, you'll immediately recognize those same sexy dance-pop beats with sultry vocals, chiming synths, and sporadic, warbly guitar licks.
The Hundred in the Hands will be released on September 21st, courtesy of Warp

Salem - Release da Boar
Salem - King Night
Sweet, sweet, well-done music, with some bass that should be blowin' out speakers on the reg this fall.
(I think Colonic's brevity might not do justice to the intricacies and straight-up weirdo awesomeness that witch house pioneers Salem are doing here with King Night. I do believe, however, that this one needs to be played LOUD and long to fully appreciate just how much it rocks. - Delach)
King Night will be released on September 28th, via IAMSOUND

The Wagner Logic - Waiting For Snow
The Wagner Logic - Years From Now
The Wagner Logic - Yesterday Evening
Crafting lo-fi shoegaze has got to be a really trying task. The self-titled sophomore follow-up to The Wagner Logic’s 2007 debut release, Easiest To Grab, does a really great job of not sounding at all like so many of their predecessors or contemporaries. This Alaskan duo pull off a really well-arranged and organic album that conjures up regret, loss, and dysfunction.
The Wagner Logic will be released on September 14th, 2010

Neon Indian - (If I Knew, I'd Tell You) (Javelin remix)
Neon Indian - Terminally Chill (YACHT remix)
It's probably not a real big surprise that we're pretty sweet on Neon Indian and their warbly style of lo-fi electronic dream-pop, so yeah, we're extra hyped about the highly anticipated rerelease of Psychic Chasms, ok? If that wasn't exciting enough, there's a brand spankin' new accompanying remix album, somewhat appropriately (re)dubbed Mind Ctrl: Psychic Chasms Possessed, and it's got a shitload of tasty, weirdo remixes by the likes of Toro Y Moi, Bibio, and Javelin, among many others. Excited yet? You should be.

We normally try to not make a habit out of cluttering up the posts by pimping out events (unless it's one of ours, natch), but goddamnit, this time we're making an exception. All Tampa Bay area music aficionados are encouraged to come out to the El Ten Eleven/Baths show tonight at the Orpheum in Ybor City. (check out Baths and read what we had to say about 'em HERE)
For real - it's gonna be a good one, and to make it even better, the Orpheum has agreed to serve up 2-for-1 Jamesons to anyone sporting a Liquid Jesus t-shirt, all night long *. How can you beat that? See you tonight, kiddos!

Blue Sky Black Death - Carl Sagan
Blue Sky Black Death - Call To Arms
Producer collab duo Blue Sky Black Death has been a favorite of the Liquid Jesus crew for a while now, and we've been eagerly anticipating another collection of tracks since the release of the wonderfully hypnotic (and overwhelmingly critically-acclaimed) indie-pop masterpiece, Slow Burning Lights, in 2008. For their brand new release, Third Party, the duo teamed up with Alexander Chen, whose vocal stylings round out another impressive album chock full of hauntingly beautiful symphonies tinged with hip-hop-influenced beats, hazy electronic atmospherics, and swirling synth.
Third Party is available courtesy of Fake Four, Inc.

Parlovr - Hell, Heaven
Parlovr - Tehching Hsleh
Parlovr (pretend the V is a U when you say it) is a band that jumps from style to style on this, their second release, Hell / Heaven / Big / Love. Each tune is different than the next in a happy, schizophrenic way - not the 'nut-bag circling the dumpster' kind of way. Some touches of the familiar Franz Ferdinand and Wolf Parade have been thrown into the mix by this Montreal trio, resulting in a slew of tunes that are spastic, rambling, sloppy, and border on the epic. Much like our dear monthly.
The Hell / Heaven / Big / Love EP will be released on October 19th, via Dine Alone Records

The Naked and Famous - Punching In A Dream
The Naked and Famous - Young Blood
Man, oh man... What a fantastic album this turned out to be. With all the poppy goodness of MGMT (ala their first release, of course) and Passion Pit, combined with sexy female/male vocals combos and catchy-as-all-get-out hooks, you'd better believe it when we tell you that The Naked and Famous are set to turn some heads in a major fucking way with their latest effort, Passive Me, Aggressive You. Look - while we'd much rather keep this dancy lil' dream-pop gem all to ourselves (and out of the soon-to-be overplayed, er... playlists everywhere for as long as possible), it's also gonna be real exciting to see such a solid release get the attention it so rightly deserves for a change.
Passive Me, Aggressive You is available digitally, via The Naked and Famous

No Age - Glitter
No Age - Depletion
Let's admit it... Who among us is not at least a little bit enamored with those pretty girls with slightly fucked-up smiles - you know, the ones with a fairly decent set of chompers, aside from the one misfit incisor or canine that's just a bit outta place and clashes with the rest of the teeth in her head? It's pretty fucking endearing, and while this might be just a lame attempt at a meaningful metaphor (I dunno... I'm hungover. Again. Maybe what I'm trying to say is that the oh-so-boring standards of conventional perfection don't always make something impressive - in fact, it's oftentimes the less-polished and rough-around-the-edges that rightfully turns heads the most. Right?), for some reason, it's exactly what comes to mind while listening to the new No Age record.
Everything In Between will be released on September 28th, courtesy of Sub Pop

Black Milk - Deadly Medley *
Oh, Detroit! America's ardent and turbulent history with you continues to plunge downward as you decay and suffocate... Yet, those words couldn't be further from the truth when discussing the legendary talent that the big D! has produced. After 2008's Tronic, it was clear that we had our next great artist from the crumbling jungle, Black Milk. His newest release, Album of the Year, might seem a bit lofty in title, but it's not short on soul, grit, and inspiration.
* ft. Royce Da 5′9″ & Elzhi of Slum Village
Album of the Year will be released on September 14th, via Decon Records

Gallops - Miami Spider
Now this is more like it. Gallops quickly caught our attention with their brilliant Battles-esque brand of math rock with lotsa juicy time-signature changes and (excuse the pun) their galloping style of never-know-where-it's-heading-next song constructs. Plus the killer, killer cover-art is pretty damn easy on our pseudo-discerning eyes. New Liquid Jesus fave? Indeed.
The self-titled Gallops EP is available courtesy of Holy Roar Records

The Walkmen - Angela Surf City
The Walkmen - Victory
What we have here is yet another solid release from indie-rock crooners The Walkmen - steeped in sparseness and plinking piano keys and jangling guitars, of course - and for fans, new and old, this one does not disappoint. As with their past records, Lisbon conjures up long, stumbling, drunken walks through the snow in an unfamiliar city (but in a good way, of course), and smoky cellar club arguments with an ex-lover. Or maybe that's just me.
Lisbon will be released on September 14th, via Fat Possum
