Clams Casino

Clams Casino - Treetop

Man. We just posted up the the debut offering from Clams Casino only a couple months back (HERE) and while we're still kinda reeling from its refreshingly gorgeous yet oh-so-spooky-ass series of beats and loops, here we are - fallin' in love all over again with the freshly-minted Rainforest EP and its short, but sweet, themed atmospheric collection of creeper-esque cuts. Hell yeah.

The Rainforest EP is available courtesy of Tri-Angle Records

Random Axe

Random Axe - Random Call
Random Axe - Monster Babies

We've had the dope, dope, newly-released full-length by Detroit collab trio Random Axe (Black Milk, Sean Price, Guilty Simpson) on steady play for a couple of weeks now, and figured it was right about time to show 'em a little bit of love here on Liquid Jesus... 'cause man!, does this thing deserve a serious listen. If you're a fan of any or all of these three hip hop veterans, then make sure to get up on this motherfucker, and soon!

Want more? Check out the bonus video of The Hex, available after the jump.

SBTRKT - Wildfire
SBTRKT - Trials Of The Past

Producer prodigy SBTRKT sure knows how to craft some catchy-ass looped-beat bangers, and good god! is the proof ever so much in the proverbial puddin' on the new self-titled SBTRKT full-length. Even better, his crew of collab vocalists (Little Dragon, Sampha, Roses Gabor, more) on the new eponymous release are a sublime, extra-added bonus to the compiled, swirling-all-around-you array of electronic, dub-step/funk/soul-inspired mini-opuses found within.

SBTRKT will be released on June 28th, via Young Turks

Washed Out

Washed Out - Amor Fati
Washed Out - You And I

No matter how high the temperatures rise this summer, surviving in this godawful, sweltering city is gonna be a little bit easier with Within And Without - a gorgeous, seductive-as-fuck lil' release wrapped up in a super-sexy, lo-fi sound complete with vocals that just ooze with soothing, laid-back goodness. Look - the Washed Out brand of intimately-crafted, hypnotic dream-pop did a good job saving us from the heat last summer, and we're fairly certain it'll help pull us through again this year as well.

Within And Without will be released on July 12th, courtesy of Sub Pop

Serengeti - Long Ears
Serengeti - Ha-Ha

Seeing as how the jumble of quirky/off-kiltered, out of place beats on Family & Friends (co-manufactured by master of musical oddity Yoni Wolf) complement Serengeti's overly introspective, point-blank vocal stylings (and subject matter ranging from the utterly mundane to the uncomfortably intimate, from the brutal honesty of matter-of-fact self-deprecation to the downright absurd/humorous ramblings of an overly obsessive self-consciousness) so goddamn perfectly, I guess it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise just how easily some of these tracks end up bouncing around on the insides of my head.

Family & Friends will be released on July 19th, courtesy of Anticon.

YACHT - Utopia
YACHT - Dystopia (The Earth Is On Fire)

While electro-pop/art-rock two-piece YACHT know exactly how to get the kids all hot and bothered with their brand of inventive, highly danceable, disco/funk-influenced cuts... just make sure to dig a little deeper for once, ok? Their new full-length, Shangri-La, is a pretty goddamn fun and infectious listen, but don't let its seemingly whimsical, carefree nature overshadow the highly conceptual (and slightly ominous) themes that swirl throughout the album.

Shangri-La will be released on June 21st, via DFA

Com Truise

Com Truise - VHS Sex
Com Truise - Cathode Girls

Dope, über-futuristic melodies and electro/glitch-laden pop grace the entirety of this brand spankin' new debut full-length by synth wiz Seth Haley, ala Com Truise. In a time when electronic music seems to be making a strange (and sometimes obnoxious) kind of creeping comeback, the nostalgic beats and quality spaced-out bleeps & bloops on Galactic Melt are a step up from much of the oftentimes mediocre pack.

* For the locals: Com Truise will be performing on Wednesday, July 13th at the Imperial Theatre at Czar in Ybor City, with The Glitch Mob and Phantogram

Father's Children

Father's Children - Dirt And Grime

Really really diggin' this lost gem by vocal-harmony-rich, 1973-era DC Islamic soul septet Father's Children. True to form, as always, Numero Group unearthed a buried treasure here, and it's hard to believe this thing went unheard 'til now.

Who's Gonna Save The World is available via Numero Group

Cults - Abducted
Cults - Go Outside

Man, it seems like anyone with an iota of sense these days can't help but completely swoon over Cults and their cutesy lullaby-esque tunes. Hell, even Colonic sings along sometimes, mouthing the words between cigarette drags and sips from his bevie of choice - and yeah, I know it'd be really hilarious watching him do that if it also wasn't so goddamn adorable, and that's probably the only time I'll ever attribute that word to the big guy.

The self-titled Cults album is available HERE

Eclectic, weirdo-riffic beats abound, courtesy of off-kilter producer extraordinaire Samiyam. Sam Baker's Album prolly won't make much sense to most casual, unexpecting listeners, but beat fanatics of all persuasions will most certainly dig on this record's skewed sense of woozy, instrumental hip hop and WTF electronic twists and turns.

Handsome Furs

Handsome Furs - Damage
Handsome Furs - Cheap Music

On Sound Kapital, husband/wife duo Dan Boeckner and Alexei Perry create '80s-influenced (sans gimmicky bullshit, of course), exclusively synth-produced tracks of enthusiastic electro-pop goodness. Discerning listeners may recognize Boeckner's unique vocal stylings from renowned indie act Wolf Parade, but don't let that association fool you - Handsome Furs' brand of dancefloor-themed pop songs for the disenfranchised doesn't need some silly musical comparison for its insanely catchy and wholly anthemic sound to shine on its own.

Highly recommended.

Reptar - Stuck In My Id

Aside from being fiends of music, culture, etc., we here at LJ Inc. have a great appetite for the highs and lows of drug abuse - so let's just say that Oblangle Fizz Y'all is a 9-bump kinda night, fueled by stare-at-me dance moves and over-exaggerated antics.

Oblangle Fizz Y'all is available via Quality Faucet Records

Fucked Up

Fucked Up - Queen Of Hearts
Fucked Up - The Recursive Girl

Our lil' crew contains at least one Lit. Major who's a notorious little bitch about language and how it's used (ie: me), and I think by now it's safe to admit that there are a few words out there in the lexicon that make me cringe a bit - and for no good reason at all, really... Words like luscious and moist, or casually calling a sandwich a sammie, and the especially excretable, onomatopoeic nom nom nom... Ewww! Call me crazy, but that shit really bothers me sometimes. But... wanna know what doesn't bother me... like, at all? A thorough and overly generous application of expletives, of course, and especially when used by bands (see HERE and HERE) who aren't afraid to include some straight-up offensive-as-hell naughty phrase in, or as, their namesake. Enjoy.

Givers - Up Up Up
Givers - Saw You First

Upbeat, bubbly melodies from avant-pop outfit Givers, plus lotsa percussion, jangling guitars, and anthemic, chipper voices. The unabashed optimism and overall exuberance simply oozes, through and throughout In Light, and it's a fanciful, joyous lil' listen from beginning to end - so much so that it just might give all your favorite summertime albums a run for their money in the next few sweaty upcoming months.

In Light will be released on June 7th, courtesy of Glassnote

Vanilla - The People
Vanilla - Way We Were
Vanilla - Endgame

We've been really diggin' this free album of über-fresh tracks and soul-sampled goodness by beat-master Vanilla, and we think there's at least a handful of you out there who might enjoy it as well... Vanilla says that High Life is 'inspired by producers such as Dilla, Madlib, and Onra' and we think that's a fairly fitting description of this fun/free (did we mention it's free?) beat tape, especially for those aficionados who're in the mood to finally start celebrating this summer in style.

High Life is available in its entirety as a FREE download, courtesy of Vanilla.
