Renegades Of Jazz

Renegades Of Jazz - Hooked On Swing
Renegades Of Jazz - Blow Your Horn

This one makes me smile. A lot. Think big band-style swing and vintage jazz sounds, but combined with an upbeat instrumental hip hop bounce and modern breakbeat flavors... that's what German producer Renegades Of Jazz has accomplished here on the nostalgic-yet-refreshingly-fun (and strangely sophisticated-sounding) new album, Hip To The Jive. If this take on hand-clappin', knee slappin' polyrhythmic compositions with lotsa delicious percussion and noisy brass stabs (plus piano, upright bass, and cymbal-crash combos) doesn't start bringing jazz back to the dancefloor, then I don't know what will.

Have you guys ever heard of this Japanese group called Soil & Pimp Sessions? Jazz, but of a different style than this, I think it fits with the kind of music you guys love.
