The Vaccines

The Vaccines - No Hope
The Vaccines - Mannequin *

English indie outfit The Vaccines follow up their What Did You Expect From... debut disc with the new Come Of Age LP, due out next week, so expect catchy, anthemic, almost-angsty cuts of jangly guitar rock, bouncy beats, and slightly throwback-influenced sounds. And while you're at it, make sure to grab the FREE Please, Please Do Not Disturb teaser EP, on which these peeps pay slow and sexy acoustic tribute to Pink Flag-era Wire tracks, ABBA singles, and more.

* from Please, Please Do Not Disturb

Come Of Age will be released on September 4th, via The Vaccines
Please, Please Do Not Disturb is available in its entirety as a FREE download, also courtesy of The Vaccines. Click HERE to get it.

The Fresh & Onlys

The Fresh & Onlys - 20 Days And 20 Nights
The Fresh & Onlys - Yes Or No

The upcoming Long Slow Dance full-length by Californian psych quartet The Fresh & Onlys is a leisurely listen full of fun and breezy upbeat guitar-pop that's brimming with lotsa lo-fi jangles, and vintage surf-rock hooks spread throughout. Influences tend to range between doo-wop/surf-sound combos, with a lil' bit of Shins-esque shimmery string-work and Morrissey-reminscent vocal croonings (ala The Smiths tunes of old) tossed in for good measure.

Why? - Sod In The Seed

The Sod In The Seed EP is a fun lil' teaser for Why's upcoming Mumps, Etc. full-length, due out later this fall. Once you've acquainted yourself with Yoni Wolf's nasally/nerdy lyrical delivery style (and vocabulary) and matching, head-scratchingly catchy beats, it's kinda hard to forget... so you probably already know what to expect, right? If you're in need of a refresher course, though, think quirky xylophonic plinks/plunks and other offbeat percussion, plus delightfully upbeat pop melodies and a buncha witty/weird braggadocio-laden lyrics.

Liquid Jesus MixTape 03:03

LIQUID JESUS - MixTape 03:03

To hell with our self-proclaimed mission statement. Let's get weird(er) with this thing for once... and what better way to get way way weird than to have our lil' buddy Mini Horse get up on the digital decks (again) and scientificate another real-feel-good-albeit-real-real-real-retro-as-fuck-(throwback-but-not-predictable) mix thingy-thing for everyone to get real, real, real sexy to...

Mini sez, "Recorded live from the stable, Mini Horse packs tons of yacht-rock staples and funky electronic jams in this late night summer mix. When Mini Horse isn't getting down to 1970's AM Gold, you can find him playing with Poetry 'n Lotion or Brahm Bones."

Full tracklist is available after the jump. Enjoy. (Thanks again, Mini!)

Groundislava - Weekend In The Tropics

Our boy Mes turned us on to Groudislava's "creepy 8-bit R&B sounds" the last time around, whilst swooning over the self-titled whatever-it-was release by this knob-twisting quirk-producer extraordinaire. The boogie-down-like TV Dream EP continues onward (outward) from where the previous effort left off, and with a surprising amount of extra extra '80s-influenced swank beats to, er... get extra '80's-down and extra swanky to... (Yes, I'm a little bit drunk right now).

Yeasayer - Longevity
Yeasayer - Henrietta

The release date for Fragrant World is just about upon us, but rest assured - this brand new effort by experimental art-pop outfit Yeasayer is just as ambitious and avant-garde-ish and strange (and really, really catchy) as you'd probably expect, m'kay? ... so whether you became a fan because of the mysteriously alluring All Hour Cymbals debut - or during the decidedly more up-beat and dance-floor friendly (and accessible as all get-out) Odd Blood follow-up craze - I'm fairly sure that this third full-length offering is gonna tickle yer lil' fancy either way.

Fragrant World will be released on August 21st, via Secretly Canadian

Poolside - Next To You
Poolside - Do You Believe

This summer season doesn't seem like it's gonna be letting up anytime soon, so let's dig in deep and get ready for the long haul and keep this party going with these sunny, disco-influenced vibes from electronic groove-maestros Poolside (a name that actually accurately describes the sounds this duo creates and, like, to a fuckin' t). There's lotsa pool-party friendly tracks on Pacific Standard Time, and we recommend playing this one real loud, and on repeat, during yer next day off drinking session - at least 'til you pass out or someone else hurts themselves, per usual.

Open Mike Eagle

Open Mike Eagle - Your Back Pack Past (ft. Has-Lo)
Open Mike Eagle - Free-Writing Exercise (ft. Nocando)

Here's another Fake Four release that we've had on repeat for the last month or so. Kinda similar to Serengeti (if you happened to give the previously just-posted C.A.R. a listen)... Open Mike Eagle's witty-as-fuck lyricisms cover 4NML HSPTL's wide-ranging themes (humorous to sarcastic to downright serious), and the slew of eclectic, avant-garde hip hop beats weave their way throughout the album with enough herky-jerky, experimental, oddball flavor infused into 'em to raise some serious eyebrows. But in a good way.

Serengeti - Greyhound
Serengeti - Talk To Me

Been a fan of Serengeti and his playful style of story-telling (masquerading surprisingly insightful themes within the humorous yet often overly-detailed wordplay/musings and matter-of-fact, conversational-esque delivery) for a hot minute now, so the release of this one was a real nice surprise, indeed. See HERE and HERE for a lil' taste if you haven't been formally acquainted yet... Kinda bizarre, right? Well, C.A.R. ups the quirk even further with some delicious abstract beat wonkiness, courtesy of Anticon weirdos Jel and Odd Nosdam. What the what!? Be still, my beating heart.

C.A.R. is available courtesy of Anticon.

Aimes - Oh My My

Repping the Synthemesc project alongside like-minded labelmates Teeel and Crozet, the one man synth-pop producer otherwise known as Aimes creates swanky, '80s-influenced electro-wave with dreamy atmospherics and enough colorful melody/beat combos to shake yer lil' bottom to.

Beautiful Decay is available via Aimes and Synthemesc

TNGHT - Bugg'n

Heavy-hitter producers Hudson Mohawke and Lunice team up under the collaborative TNGHT moniker, and create a handful of weird and woozy beats on this quick lil' self-titled EP. Think creeping, eclectic, and oddball-esque enough tracks that prolly sound better and better (and better) the more and more you bump 'em. So yeah, we suggest you turn the volume up real loud on this one.

Dirty Projectors

Dirty Projectors - Offspring Are Blank
Dirty Projectors - Buckle Up *

Even the mostest of the most discerning of our audiophile friends (read: music snobs) just can't get enough of Dirty Projectors and their brand new Swing Lo Magellan full length, with all of its downright inventive avant-garde-ish complexities and swirling, almost hypnotic choruses of intertwining vocal harmonies... After all, these are the same peeps who wouldn't shut the fuck up about the swoon-worthy 2009 Bitte Orca masterpiece. But we don't mind, 'cause we're real big fans as well, ya know?

Good news for the locals. Dirty Projectors are performing tonight at The Beacham in Orlando.
