Theophilus London

Theophilus London - All Around The World (Silascopathic remix)
Theophilus London - Stop It (Crookers remix)

Here's a nifty lil' collabo remix of Theophilus London's banger of an album, Timez Are Weird These Days, in its entirety and appropriately titled, Timez Are Weird These Nights. Get it? Featuring reworked tracks (by Bloody Beatroots, Crookers, Skream, and more), this one is a dark, bizarro reinterpretation that's just as easy to get down and dirty to as the original.

Liquid Jesus MixTape 03:02

LIQUID JESUS - MixTape 03:02

It's been a few months since the last Liquid Jesus mix/sampler (courtesy of Mes), so we figured it was about time to put together another. If you've happened upon any of our many PLAYLISTS lately then you'll probably recognize a bunch of these tracks, 'cause there's a whole slew of newer picks and recent faves on here. As always, please excuse any bumps/bruises along the way - and I'm sure there are a few - as we put this one together (almost exclusively) whilst drinking. Full tracklist is available after the jump. Enjoy.

Bong-Ra

Bong-Ra - Pandora's Box (ft. Sole)

Let's get weird. Let's get weird and wild and way-out-there with a battery of bass/breaks and bpm madness by dark 'n' dirty eclectronic enthusiast Bong-Ra (plus abstract lyricist Sole poppin' in on a buncha tracks) on this aptly-titled barrage of massive, apocalypse-laden beats.

The Walkmen

The Walkmen - The Love You Love
The Walkmen - Heaven

When we last crossed paths with inimitable rock-crooners The Walkmen, it was while we were woozy-waltzing in the back room of a dirty cellar bar listening to their last release, Lisbon, all jilted and boozy and breathless - and even though we're just now delving directly into this one, Heaven seems to be just as much an intoxicating, twinkling trip as its predecessor.

Heaven will be released on May 29th, courtesy of Fat Possum

Gap Dream

Gap Dream - 58th St. Fingers
Gap Dream - Feast Of The First Morning

Lo-fi garage-rock stylings with hazy/dazy guitar jangles, echoey vocal work, and a delightful bedroom-pop project aesthetic on this self-titled release by one-man effort Gap Dream. It's not too far of a stretch from some of our other top fave psych-influenced acts, so if you've been paying any attention at all, you'll probably already know what to look forward to on this one.

Japandroids

Japandroids - Younger Us
Japandroids - The House That Heaven Built

Anthemic tunes about friends and booze and youth with a buncha booming chords and heartfelt "whoa-ohs" and pummeling rock twists and turns everywhere on this one, so make sure to play it (extra) loud, ok? There's not a whole lotta things that put me in a good mood these days, but Celebration Rock does, and does it every single time I listen to it. So, yeah - I like it a lot a lot.

Celebration Rock will be released on June 5th, courtesy of Polyvinyl

Killer Mike

Killer Mike - Southern Fried
Killer Mike - Butane (Champion's Anthem) (ft. El-P)

R.A.P. Music has been getting some major digital ink from all corners of the web these days, but what else would you expect (?) especially with ATL hip hop heavyweight Killer Mike teaming up with Brooklyn beat-extraordinaire (and hardest working gent in the game, as of late) El-P on this dope full length that hits hard (in both music and message) and just might exceed all of the hype, y'all.

Highly recommended.

Aucan

Aucan - Storm (ft. mcDalek) (Aucan remix)
Aucan - Red Minonga (Robot Koch remix)

Italian math-strumentalist trio Aucan decided to revisit the layered electronic textures and sprawling experimental wonkiness off of last summer's Black Rainbow full-length and brought some friends along with 'em (including electrosmith heavy-hitters Robot Koch, Scorn, and Shigeto, plus a ton more) to help reinterpret the booming, glitch-heavy goodness.

Black Rainbow Remixes is available in its entirety as a FREE download, courtesy of Aucanize. Click HERE to get it.

Eight And A Half

Eight And A Half - Scissors
Eight And A Half - Go Ego

Plenty of looped percussion and airy, synth-heavy melodies on this self-titled full-length from Eight And A Half (ft. members of Broken Social Scene and The Stills)... and while this new collaboration takes a noticeable cue from each of its predecessors, its influences range further/farther from either and are a bit more difficult to pin down. If yer a fan of the aforementioned acts then you're probably gonna dig on this one, too.

Slow Magic

Slow Magic - Corvette Cassette
Slow Magic - Sorry Safari

Slow Magic crafts glowing, feel-good dreampop tracks that are perfect for sun-soaked summertime listening - ala other like-minded bliss-beatsmiths that we've drooled all over in the past (ie: HERE, HERE, HERE, and there's a ton more, of course) - and the slew of bubbling atmospherics + airy electro hooks on the new ▲ LP makes me wanna crack open a tasty beach beverage with some sun on my face and sand between my toes.

Chains Of Love

Chains Of Love - He's Leaving (With Me)
Chains Of Love - Breaking My Heart

Mollie goes all gooey over the sassy/soulful retro-pop sounds of '60s-throwback aficionados Chains Of Love, so (no matter wherever she's gone and disappeared to the last few weeks) here's to hoping she's letting the doo-wop-inspired, lo-fi goodness on Strange Grey Days keep her company.

Maps & Atlases

Maps & Atlases - Silver Self
Maps & Atlases - Old And Gray

Alright, let's get this right out of the way; Beware And Be Grateful and Perch Patchwork have moved Chicago's Maps & Atlases towards more of a pop angle, and away from their original math-rock roots. In come the battery-powered Casio keyboards and out goes a bit of that free-form jazziness. The real strength of this band, for this listener, has always been the vocals of Dave Davison and his ability to create dense layers of richness with his slinky/significant moans.

* For the locals: Maps & Atlases will be performing on Saturday, May 26th at Crowbar in Ybor City

oOoOO

oOoOO - NoWayBack (ft. Butterclock)

Lotsa hazy/lush textures and spooky electronic ambience up here in these gorgeous (and completely weirdo/warbly-in-all-the-right-ways) creeper beats by the producer with the semi-indecipherable oOoOO moniker. I can't help but think that a lot of folks are gonna have a problem wrapping their heads around this one, but I'm also pretty sure that's at least partly the point.
